Mobility Part M Compliant
Building regulation part M: Access and facilities for disabled people; requires that in the design of all new buildings, consideration is given to their use by people of limited mobility and wheelchair use. 'Reasonable Provision' must be made in respect of both access into and use of the building internally. Where this is required Pendle Doors can offer compliant products, for external applications we would use a mobility threshold which is available in either an aluminium or brass finish. For internal purposes we can offer doors with vision panels which we meet the effective visibility requirements required. For details of the vision panels please see the vision panel section, door types PD09 and PD10 are compliant providing the correct width of door is used.
We would recommend a minimum door width of 926mm.
Door Widths
The Regulations demand specific dimensions for doors and corridors, which have been calculated to assist the mobility of wheelchairs and prams into, and within, the dwelling. These details are shown in the diagrams and table below.
Doors in buildings other than dwellings
There are further requirements for buildings other than dwellings, which include the provision of unobstructed space on the opening side of the door, and glazing panels where opening of a door could cause a hazard. See Paragraph 1.35 of the Regulations for more details.
